			I also remember a friend who bought an Internet CD-ROM at a gas station, convinced he was about to get online. He spent hours calling me because it simply wouldn't work. After a long troubleshooting session, we discovered the problem: he didn't even have a phone line connected to his computer. The CD promised access to the Internet, but nobody had explained that you still needed a modem and an actual telephone connection. Those were the days when getting online required equal parts curiosity, patience, and a healthy tolerance for confusion.
